Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She's also a seasoned public speaking. Feminist Frequency was established by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos with commentary that analyze the representations of women that are prevalent in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist, media critic and award-winning feminist for over a decade. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit educational site that explores gender representation in popular stories of culture - was created and directed by Sarkeesian. Aiming to break down the stereotypes that are associated with females in pop culture, she works to highlight issues related to harassment targeted at women as well as other classes of the Internet world. Sarkeesian who has the degree of Master's in Social and Political Thinking from York University, is a popular public speaker. She has given speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Inquiring about gender and feminism since an early age she launched her website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the University. The ambitious lady planned to create an online series on gender representation in games, and was then the victim of a harassment campaign online. She was not deterred from the attack, and the fact is that it only bolstered her determination to be a media critic and feminist. She has won numerous awards in recognition of her many notable contributions to the field of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded numerous awards and created Feminist Frequency as an educational organization that focuses on the ways women are depicted within media narratives.
